About Me
Theodore Mavromoustakis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in November 1969. Started playing the piano and the guitar at an early age as a self-taught. Also composed music at an early age. Later he took harmony, counterpoint, fugue and composition lessons from his father, composer and violist of Thessaloniki’s State Orchestra, George Mavromoustakis.
He is a holder of the «Certificate of Achievement in Music Composition at Advanced Level» as finalist of the «International Music Prizes for Excellence in Composition 2009» international competition with his composition for solo Piano «Visit to an Institution».
He has been distinguished in all international competitions in which he has participated.
Apart from the "International Music Prizes for Excellence in Composition 2009" competition, it has received the following distinctions:
«Honorable Mention Citation» for his composition «One day Six Moments» for solo Guitar, at Advanced Level category in «International Music Prizes for Excellence in Composition 2010» competition.
«Honorable Mention Citation» for his composition «Dance of Spheres» for solo Piano, at Expert Level category and the «Honorable Mention Citation» for his composition «Three Greek Songs» for solo Piano, at Intermediate Level category,
in «International Music Prizes for Excellence in Composition 2011» competition.
Finalist of the «12th Annual Great American Song Contest (2010)» with his work «Two Sax for you» in the Instrumental category.
Eight commendations for as many pieces of music with which he participated in the «UK Songwriting Contest» in the “Instrumental” and “Electronic / Dance” categories (2014).
Finalist of the «19th Annual Great American Song Contest» (2017) with his work «My Guitar» in the Instrumental category.
Finalist of the «25th Annual Great American Song Contest» (2023) with his work «Talk of a Chance» in the Instrumental category.
Finalist of the «27th Annual Great American Song Contest» (2025) with his work «Keep It Blue» in the Instrumental category.
During the school years he received four awards for excellence and he graduated from high school in 1987 and from the Agricultural School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1993 with his dissertation thesis on Genetics.
Also he likes painting, photography (participated : in photography exhibition with the group of photography of Aristotle University), poetry (participated in the «1st Pan-Hellenic Poetry Contest in memory of Angelos Sikelianos») and sports. (member of amateur basketball team «Makednos» and participation in the «1st International Triathlon Race of Macedonia ‘Kouros’». He received gold and silver medals in the «University ’s Soccer League» with the soccer team of the Agricultural School)
